Hey guys. I just recently bought a Trion 8000 microphone, and suddenly it has stopped working right. It was working fine at the start of my session. I recorded my acoustic flawlessly. I then went to record my vocals, and all of a sudden it went crazy. What it is doing is going on and off basically. When I am singing, itll record, then stop, then record, and so on. Its really odd. I know for sure it is the microphone. I have tested my cables and tested my interface, both have no problems. It is the microphone. The store I bought it from is not open today, so I cant get any help from them. Can you guys give me an idea of what might be wrong? My setup is the mic, going into my interface (MR816X), and going into my computer via firewire. No power surge or any such thing has happened. Please help!

Cheers,
Mitch

It could be anything really. Did you try the switch to see if it affects it (polar pattern switch)
Best bet if its under warrenty is to return it to the shop.

How is the humidity where you are using this mic? LDC's are sensitive to high amounts of humidity. It can cause the capsule to basically short out. Easy enough to correct if you can lower the humidity, IF this is the issue.

The humidity is pretty normal, at least from what I think. It certainly isnt dry. So to see if this is the issue, should I just move the mic temporarly to a dryer room and test there?

Yes, you could try moving it to a dry place for a while and see if it recovers.

Are you using a pop shield for the vocals? Often saliva will cause these kinds of problems.
