I am just getting into digital recording (cakewalk) and I am running into a noise problem. When I connect my shure sm 57 mic into my soundcard I am getting what sounds like electrical interferance noise blasting from my speakers, but when I try my $20 radio shack mike the sound is crappy...but crystal clear! is there a product I should have or something I should be setting on my soundcard differently that would remove the noise. Both mics are dynamic and both are being placed in the exact same location from the computer.

well.........

1) What kinda soundcard do U have????

and I'm guessing its a soundblaster..... cause if U use the mic inputs on those cards they sound like shit.... I don't care what kinda mic U use.... U will always run into a noise prob...... get a micpreamp for your mic and use the line in on your scard, and just disable the mic in..... it adds sooooooo much hiss itz just crazy.

if U only plan on using 1 mic........ ever
the ART Tube Micpreamp will run you about $100, and that will help get that not hissy sound your goin for.

but if you are looking it expand your setup in the future, U could get a small mixer instead, depends on your budget and what U will be using it for..........

Are you using the same cable for both?
Check your cable first
