Hi all, newbie here.
Had to use HBL as a nick since either the admin or the software has a issue with my normal nick "HalfBlindLefty"

Thought I should introduce myself:
- Dutch
- male
- 50
- IT engineer / consultant
- Trying to play guitar
- Blues, Ballads and some classic rock
- recording myself
- electric/electronics modding

Should be enough for now (I hope)

When I had my stuff setup in my old room (3.5 m + 2 m) My guitar amps, -a Fender Cybertwin SE & a Blackheart Little Giant head- where right behind me when I sat @ my computer desk.
When recording with my Cybertwin that was no problem at all since it's connected to my soundcard using spdif.
When recording with the Blackheart (using the Cybertwin's speakers) my mic I kept picking up the (far to loud) sound of the computers fans and the backingtracks from my speakers.

To get around that I created a foam dome using foam from a packaging box I had around 3 pieces of cupper wire (electrical) and some glue.

It's ugly as h311, but It kept most unwanted sounds away from the mic.

That is a pretty cool job on your DIY isolation dome :)

That's a nice solution. HOWEVER, you'll need to address the noisy computer sooner rather than later. Fan upgrades &/or an isolation box for the thing would be on the cards.

I recommend fan upgrades and hard drive upgrades, but failing that, remoting the machine can achieve the same results if you don't mind punching a hole in your wall.
