Does Sonar 4 include a mic simulator plug-in? I didn't see one listed in the product description, but I seem to remember Sonar XL having this.

If not, does anyone have any recommendations for something that is compatable with cakewalk series software?

Thanks,

You might be thinking of the Sound Stage plugin (FX3?). It had some choices availabel on mic types. Other than that, I am not aware of anything that was included with Sonar.

However, if you had FX3 in a previous version of Sonar, you should be able to keep it and use it in S4.

Otherwise, look into the Antares Mic Modeler, I guess, if you really want to model mics via software. It will work with Sonar.

I don't know Sonar, but if it can use DirectX plug-ins, Sony's Acoustic Mirror has a complete collection of Shure mic impulses.

Thanks!

Thanks for your answers, they help. Mabye it was Sonar Stage I was thinking of. In any case, I'll check out Antarez and DirectX, thanks. (Sigh, the wallet is so light these days... :)

You may want to download the Antares demo first to give it a try. As far as I could tell the mic models were nothing more than eq presets with names like U87, C414, SM57, etc. I would suggest to use your favorite eq plugin instead.

Hey Kirst-

It is true. I've had some experience w/ this. Eq achieves similar results...and for no additional money.

It's a sales gimmick. Buyer beware.

It is a cute toy though.

Gonna get me a Radio Shack and make it sound like a Neumann...

Okay...and I have some swampland in Florida you might like ... if not, perhaps a bridge over a nice river in Brooklyn?

:D
