mic low/high impendance questions

(1) Low impendance is the better of the two, correct?

(2) What makes a mic low/high impendace? the cord or the mic?

(3) I have a SM57 and a old cord, Is there anyway to tell if that cord is low/high impendance?

(4) If it is high, is it nessasary to replace with low impendace

(5) what other stupid questions did I miss that I should know?
 
THanks! that definantly gives me a good idea of what low and high impendance are, but Im still confused slightly,

Can someone please also offer additional help on my 5 questions?

In the meantime, Im going to reread that again, But please, I still would like someone to individually answer my questions,

Doesn't really matter that much with short (under 18') runs. Don't confuse hi/lo Z with unbalanced/balanced. They aren't dependent on one another. The only advantage to a balanced line is noise/hum rejection.

LOL!:D Just remember that the impedence has nothing to do with the connection and visa-versa.;)
