Hi Can anyone suggest a dynamic microphone?

I am a classically trained dramatic mezzo (a very strong voice). I stick to the lower range and hover around middle C/D/E. I rarely venture above C5 as I can stay in full chest until that point. I cant use a compressor as my recording device is portable and I am all over the place with it.

Is there anything that might be suitable? Most mics meant for women assume we are all softer lyric sopranos or if its meant for men they can have a muddy middle range. Thanks.

Wind, do you need a tight or wide pickup pattern (recording your voice in relative isolation, or want a hall or ensemble sound)? What's your budget? What mic's have you tried already?

Budget: up to $350-400ish, a good mid-price mic and I dont mind getting two if I have to.

I need the mic for two things (1) I record my voice lessons. I am relatively close to the piano with the mic off to the side. Its about 2' away but I am so loud that I am not worried about it picking me up. I am doing mostly classical rep (2) I also will be using it when I play piano and guitar. I cant say I wouldnt use it on the weekend jam thing for metal stuff.

I have a sennheiser 865 that I run through a tube amp. Its fine for the higher range as I die out in upper mixed/head. Since its phantom I really cant take it out of the house. Other mics I have used have been whatever was lying around. Generic dynamics? Shure 58 was muddy.

I recently got a Beta 58 and it's more detailed and hotter than the SM58. Have you done any a/b testing in a music store? They should be willing to line up a bunch of mics for you and let you choose the one that flatters your voice the most.
