Mic for rec vocals. {the regular one}

I like my recordings.
hey.
I need a mic for rec vocals. wich one do you recomend?

I will buy 2 sm57, 2 condenser mic about 200 dlls, and an akg d112.

I will rec drums first and so on.

wich mic do you recomend in these range price?
is the sm58 good enough?
what about the condensor mic I wil buy?
what about the RODE NT1?

If you get the Rode,that'll be your vocal mic.
 
Hi Proveras, Checkout mixonline.com , They test many condenser mikes. They say Rode NT-1 is good on vocals, nogood on drums. I have an AT4033, This mike is incredible on everything. SM58s are verygood on floor toms and guitar cabs. Paulie.
 
Get the NT-1 for vocals, the best money can buy in this range-the only thing I would say is that it may be worth testing a few side by side in the shop, it is said that all are a little differnt in sound-pick the best.

With concern to the sm58. The sm57 and sm58 are the same mic-it's only the head that's different-screw the sm58 head off and you have a 57. The 58 is the industry standard vocal mic/used generally for live performances and is also good on the harmonica. I bought a 57 and 58, when I am recording instruments I use them both as 57's and when I need a vocal mic for live I sometimes use the 58. So it may be worth buying one of each but if you do not require a 58 then just buy two 57's (the head of the 58 with the top off is slightly different as it does not have a grill on).

Hmm tried it out (on snare and guitar amp)and I dont think the 58 sounds like my 57s. Maybe I should get an older 58 to try with?
 
why not a NT3 - it will work on kick and guitars - (INXS new album coming out soon uses them for just that) will handle 142spl
so you can scream into it.
 
I thought the NT3 was a drum overhead mic... You mean you can use it on kick drum? Has anyone tried this?

Hey Proveras...
Since you're in Mexico, what are the odds of picking up Mexican Shures for a good price? The last time I looked at one of my favorite vocal mics, a Shure SM7, I noticed that they are now manufactured in Mexico, as are 57's and 58's, I think. If you can get an SM7 for a couple hundred bucks, grab it, and send one to me, too...

ok. I will tell you how much they cost Tonewoods, but believe me, it´s cheaper in USA.

What about the NADY SCM900 (1 inch Diaphragm condenser)
it cost $99.99 at musician´s friend.

do you think it can make the job for vocals, or you preffer another one in these price range?

yes you can use the NT3 on kick - it is rated at 143spl which is one of the highest spl ratings I've ever seen. According to Colin Hill - (Nat sales manager) he saw the guys from INXS (i.e. money is not a problem) using them for drums and especially for guitars. They had 2 vox AC30s with NT3s out front.

I was more or less shocked when I saw that large diaphragm condenser from Nady for 100 bucks in Musician's Friend. Personally I wouldn't expect much from it, but then it's worth looking in to. I'd rather have an Audio Technica AT3525 ...slightly more expensive, but it's got a nifty shock mount & everything.
