Hey Everyone,

i have a pair of the 603's and i am looking for a large diaphram to add. I play mostly acoustic fingerstyle, so the mic will used primarily for that, as well as perhaps mandolin and octave mandolin.

My budget is between 500-700. I was thinking about getting a pair of cheaper mics, but i figure i should get a higher quality single mic.

any suggestions?

thanks

Thanks. Yea, i have good stuff about the 4047, and its on my list of mics to get. Is it primarily a vocal mic that is good for guitar, or is it good all around?

I use it effectively on bass cabs, guitar cabs, male/female voice, acoustic guitars, cymbals.(not in that order)

Its my swiss army mic!!

Absolutely go with one really good mic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As previously recomended, the Shure KSM44 would be a great choice for you. Also in your budget you could find a Microtech Geffel UM70s which is a wonderful mic or a AT tube 4060 mic which is a remarkable mic at any price.

Go for the good single mic!!!!!!!!!!! Great quality mono blows away mediocre quality stereo.

thanks

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like the AT 4070 or 4060 is a good mic. I will probably go with it.

I use a 4040 on the sound hole and get very nice tone. I also use an NT5 at the 12th fret. Pretty good combo but you all have me just about talked into a couple of Oktavas...

Get two 4033's at about the same price as one 4047. I use 'em alot on all kinds of stuff
