Mic EQ on Mixer

I got a Behringer UB1204FX pro mixer..with my condenser mic connected on Channel 1 on the mixer. As you know, my mixer has EQ onboard for each channel. There is HI, MID and LO. The one on HI, i put it up(pointing right)....the MID stays the way it is(pointing up)...and for LO, i put it down(pointing left)..so these are the EQ settings i put when recording. However the result i get is pretty unclear. As in, its too screechy. Maybe the HI is too much. Can you guys tell me your settings? I want a FLAT sound overall. Flat sound as in, i dont want too much bass nor too much treble. Right in between. And yes, i tried putting the EQ settings HI,MID and LO in the middle(normal settings). But it sounds too bassy and unclear. Well if i do that, do i have to adjust the EQ from the softwares i use or what? Please help me out. Thank you.

set the eq for Hf, MID, and Lf to zero, do not use any EQ whatsoever when recording. If you record with EQ added you cant go back and change it so always record flat and if you dont like the sound of it flat then add the EQ after the recording. on your desk the knobs should all probably be set to 12 o'clock for 0 EQ.

Thanks for the reply. So basically I leave the EQ as 0 on my mixer, but later on after I record, do I change the EQ via software? Can u tell me some EQ settings on softwares that will make the recording sound crisp and clear?

yeah just record with no EQ and change it later. if you have recorded it right, by that i mean in the correct room with the correct mic and equipment you shouldn't need EQ whatsoever. the problem is that it is hard to find the right equilibrium of these factors. with the use of an eq chart you can get a rough idea of what to do but like i say if you record it right in the first place you shouldn't need it. check out the link below.
