Looking for one vocal mic for a home recording studio these are about the only 2 that have some quality that fit my budget. By all means if there are others tell me but i do not wanna hear "save up and get something better" i dont beleive hip-hop vocals need a 2000 dollar mic. anyways here is what i've got to chose from

Studio Projects B1
Rode NT1A

now there's a 100 dollar diffrence in the 2 which could go to buying a pre amp and compressor but Rode customer service and warranty are second to none so i have to keep that in mind plus not forgetting about quality.

also if i hear a "go test it out" i'll chuck a fit i dont know one place that lets u take mics home to play around with and if there is one in sydney then tell me cos this will be of great help

I can hardly think of any instances where an SP B1 would be a *bad* choice for someone's first condenser.

you don't beleive hiphop vox need a $2000 mic... i take it you haven't used a $2000 for hip hop vox to make that statement... my main vocal mic for hiphop and r&b is a u87ai and a kiwi.. but i'm not gonna get into that...

you listed 2 good start up mics.. but the big question is what type of preamp are you gonna use?

with guitar center having a nice sale right now.. i'd go look at the oktava mkl2500.. on sale for $199..
some other mics you may want to check out

AT4040
Shure ksm27

You know, picking a personal vocal mic for a project is kind of personal and really requires you to audition a lot of mic's untill you find the one(s) you like best... after all, NO ONE can tell you what mic YOU will like best. I recommand that you audition the mic before you buy it... unless you have extra money to throw away.
