Hi,

I recently ran cables through the wall in to my basement for micing amps and singers. I used a 50 foot cable for the mic. Does anyone think this is too long? On a mix I submitted in the clinic , someone mentioned that the vocals werent as crisp, and sounded like there was signal loss. I am using an NT1 for vocals with an ART tube MP pre amp. when I mic my guitar amp, I am using a SM57 with the same pre.

Thanks

50 feet is fine..I think the lack of crispness may be the mic? Maybe it just doesn't work for this singer?

For a low impedance you can double that length and still be ok, methinks. For a high impedance job anything over 20ft. and it starts acting like an antenna.

Thanks,

Yea I wasnt sure, It was probably the Pre settings, since Im the one who knows how to set the stuff up, and I was also singing, I can't be in 2 parts of the house at once. But Ill tell you, when I had a buddy of mine come over to sing something, It was really cool to have him out of the room, so I could monitor through the monitors and not in headphones.... I also rigged up a talkback mic, was able to give cues to him during the song.... Very cool , made me feel like I am in the big time!!! Lol

Enjoy!!

you should be fine with 50 ft mic cable
50 ft guitar a little different story
