I already have a mixer with 8 mic preamps on it though only have one mic at the moment. I hav got about £700 to spend on bits so that I can start recording demos for people and was wondering what you guys thought of the bits I have been looking at. I have been looking at the below bits to try and extend my homestudio :
  • SM57 x3
  • SM58 x1
  • Beta 57A x1
  • Line 6 POD x1
  • AKG D112 x1

I already have a mic sutiable for an overhead. So if you guys could tell me whether this would be a reasonable setup to start recording drums, other instruments and vocals.

Thanks a lot,
Tom

I can work with those mics. I would look at some more condensors when cash allows though.

I'd prolly drop one of the 57's and go for a Studio Projetcs B1 instead, a fairly versatile budget LDC.

Don't forget about mundane things like cables, heaphones, etc. They don't cost much but it adds up real fast.
