...I bought a Mex. 70's Strat and now I have to rework the whole thing-new pickups, new tuning machines, new bridge, shielding, by the time it's done I coulda had the Jeff Beck model...but no giant headstock...

kid klash said:Why do you have to rework the whole thing? It's a pretty darn good guitar, right out of the box. If I were you, I'd leave it as is (other than putting a set of GraphTech saddles on it and a good set of strings) and play it at least two hours a day, every day for the next 6 months. I guarantee that your technique will improve so much in that time that you won't really care about the other things you mentioned. If they still bother you, sell it or trade it in on your "dream" Strat... you'll appreciate it even more.
