Method to Match Microphones into a Stereo Pair?

I've read numerous posts about the great value of Chinese and Russian mics here. So I went out and got a couple. They sound pretty good to me so far. But I'm just a wee bit short of having million dollar sound-proofed rooms with racks of gear. Is there some ghetto way to see if the mics are fairly well matched to each other, short of having to ask someone like Taylor at Soundroom? I can't really think of a good way to do this.

I tried using one mic for the left channel and one for the right. Recorded into Sound Forge and flipped one channel. If the mics are fairly well matched then the sound should technically cancel each other out right?
