I suck at improv and my first notion for something melodic like this would be to go for a more slow/harmonized sounding lead but since this is a "whole take only" type rumble, I obviously didn't want to start overdubbing and ruining the spontaneous feel.
This was my second take. I stopped at the 1 minute mark because im not the type to try and play 5 min solos, i was out of fresh ideas before 30 secs was up haha but oh well. I had fun while it lasted.

Dude, that kicked some ass!!! very cool. Fit right in with the style of the music. How'd you record it? I'm just starting to try and mic my amp, so want some ideas of what other people do. The playing was tight. It would be great to hear more.

Wireneck, you gotta go back and do the other 3 rumbles. ...Do it right now before the guitar gets cold.

JACK, I just listened to your Metalhead Rumble... man I love the sound of those 3's against 2's you're doing a lot of the way through.

Tim

Dogman I just tossed a sm57 up in front of my Jcm 900 lead 1960 cab. Marshall bichorus 200 head playing on my vintage 1979 Les paul custom. Did a hi-pass at 200hz and added a touch of delay with the OhmForce OhmBoyz plugin. Thats about it, thanks for the compliments.

Tim Ill take a listen to the other ones tomorrow. As I stated before, im not much of an improv player so I may not be able to come up with anything worth a crap haha.

I was wondering if that was done on purpose or not haha. It has an almost rhythmic dissonance going on. Cool on a certain level, if you didn't do it on purpose then god help you LMAO.

Yeah, that's what's so great about it! In my first year of mus school we had a class with nothing but drills in things like that... tapping one rhythm while saying another... and I love that particular combination... it's common in Latin and flamenco gtr repertoire to alternate between the two, or combine them.

Damn, wireneck! Awesome playing! It's great to hear some metal intensity going along with that track! :D :D

Hi Tim

Thanks for the feedback. I only took 6 months of guitar courses 25 years ago so I'm not too sure what 3's against 2's are but I'm glad you liked it.

Wireneck, that was quite a solo there. Nice work.

/Jack Real.

Hey guys thanks for the kind words. Jack Real don't sweat it man, I've never taken any lessons and I don't have a clue what im playing most of the time. Your approach is unique/original regardless of whether you meant to do it that way or not.

hey guys, that was great fun - listening to metahleads rumble and then hearing how the different style leads played over it changed the feel of the song.

metalhead, I thought your rythm part had a great flow to it all on it's own, I liked it.
kain - awesome leads man. It gave the song a kind of a 'vai' or 'satch' type feel, even though stylistically it was different. By this I mean that it sounded like a song that was always meant with the two guitars as the focal point, and it worked - no vocals needed.
wireneck - yours sounded like a great solo in the middle of a song, like it was building in intensity and then came down. Great metal playing!

lbanks: your stuff was trippy man, it reminded me a modernized version of something inspired by those 70's experimental\prog rock albums.

Great stuff, all.

Thanks, amra, for your kind words. I agree about everyone else's playing as well, good job everybody. Still hope to hear some more! :D

Kainz,

You rock! Your playing sounds so natural, like you're not even trying all that hard.

I am not worthy! I am not worthy!

I'm not sure if skill like this can be taught but if it can, can someone please teach me? :)

Heh, I dunno if they can be taught, but I could try. I work mainly as half pro session guitarist and as a guitar teacher. Too bad I'm living in europe :p.

But I can say one thing. Just play! Play alot ;). I mean I used to play and practise like 6h a day. Nowadays I have job (fortunately that involves alot of playing too hehe) and life(!?); can't play that much anymore.

BTW I have written some messages (my thoughts of guitar playing and some practise tips etc) at the other rumble threads. Might be something you want to check out.

cool track!
Kainz, that is some terrific playing on your lead.

Fell asleep...ZzZzzZzzZ. Wire you r0x. Metal as for you well...nvm.

well livilaNic, I don't know what "nvm" means but I am assuming that it is the most super-extreme, bursting with enthusiasm compliment ever, and I'm going to reply with a big friendly Thank You!! :D :D :D

I didn't listen to any of the other entries yet so i could do mine unbiased.. i've got to head to work in a lil' bit so it's not as tight as i'd like (3rd take), but hey.. it's all in fun.

setup: nord electro 2 organ (8,6,5,4,5,5,3,6,4)(V1 & fast leslie, no perc.) mono into a DMP3. Quick 'n' dirty.

now on to listening to the others...

lbanks.. that's a crazy awesome guitar tone.. i really enjoyed the solo too. keep it up. the C, D#, F# at :57 was really sweet.

I guess i'll just keep editing this post as i listen to more of the entries.

Ed

Shiatzu, that was cool as hell! Never expected an organ solo!
