Metalhead's Rumble!!

Sorry if im taking things a bit serious with some folk, just trying to help them get better quality recordings.

I can see how the odd humor/seriousness balance in the Rumbles could be missed in looking at a particular post or short thread. Hell, it'd probably take hours to read the past Rumbles enough to really understand what's going on with them. Maybe this is one of those parts of the HR maze that's more like a hall of mirrors.

Chill man. Sorry to offend you, miss read that it was "just a bit of fun", but this is called the "MP3 Mixing Clinic", so im used to listening to a track and commenting on the quality of mix.

No offense taken!...
I wasn't trying to get red about it or anything...actually I was trying to be kinda light, (especially when referencing the guitar, I had just finished responding to that post of yours!) it's just that many times someone's real attitude and intent in written form just can't be percieved accurately.

By the way, when considering your critique of the recording, you're 100% right!! :D

Metalhead, I saw in another thread that you build guitars. Adds a little different angle to listening to your playing. I don't build guitars but I built a guitar and it added a different dimension to how I think about guitars. OK, Rumble on.

Cool, glad alls cool. Yeah hard to express real emotions on the internet! Thats what the internet is missing! Emoticons? shitocons :p

You want more solos? Okay!! I'm gonna go and do this one rite now immediately.

First I didn't really want to do this one because this is so far away from my jazz/funk/groove style of playing, but oh well.. Lets see what I can come up with. Kainz goes heavy! See you in estimate.. ½h :)

Well, hurry it up, kainz. I'm working on getting a cd together of some of these solos and would like another for this track. I'll check back in a bit.
Ed

Okay here goes! :D

Kainz and Startocaster going heavy hehe (those singlecoils rock.. zzzz...). Hope you like it!

I must confess.. I did take 2 takes, the 1st part is take 2 and somewehere in the middle it turns to take 1. I did this with a rush, all mistakes there too hehe. But I think it turned to be okay afterall. Still there is clearly influences of my jazz/groove/blues style, but I think it isn't that bad at all heh. Check that around 0:45 riff heh, kinda weird for the song, but oh well :D.

Check it out maaaaan!! lol :p

Listening as I write...

Blown away...

there's something about the lines and how Metalhead's original bits of upper voice guitar makes a counterpoint with them. Just a hint of Moorish-influenced flamenco in the sound at times when that's happening.

Your modest comments are a total contrast to the playing, buddy. Kainz, next time I'm in Europe I'm going to hunt you down and buy you a beer.

Actually did this few days ago, thought it sucked. Tried again; each time sucked worse. So here's the original attempt.

whoa, that is one helluva guitar tone! :D

lbanks, you and I are kindred spirits, I think, in that the sonorities of our instruments are so different from the various types of 6 string elec gtr in the forum.

I like the effects on this to bring out the high end. Not unlike the sound of a sitar. Interested in what you used...

This has a definite oriental/Indian tone to the sound.

Ok, listened to both these babies, since Kainz was first, my comments:

Very cool. Fit in there very well, nice tone, and extraordinary playing. Reminds me very much of Vinnie Moore. Haven't heard anything from him in years, so maybe this is it? Anyway, very nice.

lbanks, that was cool. Is that a backwards talkbox through the bass? Very cool. It's alittle buried in the mix, but is very contrasting to the background music. Flows along with it, but in a very dynamic way. Wait, is this a heavy metal porno track? I wann see the movie.

Thanks, that was the Alembic Series 1 thru a Digitech RPx400 pedal, using the Synth-talk preset. I added delay. This is pretty much how I would played it using a guitar, but since I had the Series 1 repaired , its becoming my favorite instrument.

Would be mine too, thats a sweet bass!

Nice one Kainz. Cool bit at 45 secs yeah. :D

IBanks have you been eating those funny mushrooms again! What effects pedals/effects processor are you using?
