Hey All!
Everyone seems to have so much fun with the rumbles that I thought I would upload my own track! This is a kind of heavy jam track that I recorded a LONG time ago just for fun and I thought of it the other day and thought you guys might want to give it a try. The quality is nothing special, but it's a much different flavor than the other rumbles so some of you might have a good time with it! I'm not trying to overthrow the current rumble originators, just thought I would give an alternative. (the protocol droid tells me that is not possible anyhow  ) Have fun!

Meatalhead, downloading it now, and hope to give it some work tonight. Thanks.
Ed

BTW, I suck, so it won't be anything interesting, but I gotta try..... :D
Just listened to the tune, and it is damn awesome sounding!!! How'd you record this? Deatails please. Very, very nice.....I won't be able to do it justice, but alot of people will.

Well, let's see...First of all I programmed the drums on a BOSS DR-770. A couple layers of guitars and a little bass slapped in the middle (all DI by the way :( ). It has been some time since I did this.....Oh yeah, I used Cakewalk guitar tracks pro. I don't know if you were refering to musical details or recording details so if you were curious about anything else just ask! Glad you like it!

That's what I was asking. Thanks man. Nice sounds, and very good mix. Can't wait to hear some solo's over it...
Ed

Hey, a good progression for flamenco. I might have time to do something with it later this week, but I might shorten it.

Tim

Very nice progression... too bad I can't play lead for shit or I'd get in on this.

Ok, looks like I get to go first. Must mean Finster is busy with the PMC, or else he would have posted a solo this morning.

Here is mine, mistakes and all.

I did about 8 takes, and was going to cut and paste the best parts of each, but nothing went together, so this is one take, bad notes, noise and all.
Disclaimer: Really bad sounds here. Only listen if you are a real man. (or woman, if you are female.) Could cause serious mental defects in the next born child you foolishly decide to conceive. If you don't like my solo, you should hear me sing. Then, you will like my solo.

Not bad, sour notes and all! At least you had the balls to post it! :D

If I said that I didn't like your solo, then I would have to be officially outlawed from ever singing again ever! You have never heard me sing!! Indeed a brave effort, as for the bad notes - Just tell 'em that your solo is taken exclusively from the super-mixophrygilocrian mode superimposed over a c minor tonality to suggest a sense of harmonic tension! Or something like that.....thanks for posting!

Thanks, Rokket. I probably should have cut it back to 30 seconds though. 2:00 is a bit long to listen to me play...

Thanks, metalhead. Cool song, so I had to try. I really need to learn some scales, but I'm a rythum guitarist, and have just never messed with playing lead, until the Rumbles happened. I think mine starts in A minor/C#/G~, or something. Then it just progresses to the can. :D

Thanks again for the tune, as it should produce some good sounds from the others.

Hi

Good lead Dogman. You make an effort to find a guitar tone that fits the song and mix it accordingly. We hear well both the lead and the song. Nice work.

/Jack Real.

Cool solo Dogman. The thing that grabs me is the rhythm of the figures and the increasing division of the beat as each phrase starts out - eighths, sixteenths... triplet sixteenths. In fact the triplet sixteenths are pretty damn virtuositic. I also like the extra sound at the very end that's just like in the Crossroads duel where the amp's cranked so high that just stopping the strings at the end of each solo gets that percussive right-hand-on-the-strings crunch sound.

As far as the pitches used, my own personal taste in tonality leans towards atonal, polytonal and loose chromaticism so I find it refreshing when someone steps outside of the "correct" major/minor/pentatonic/modal tonalities that control our musical lives too much. Ever heard Joaquin Rodrigo's Tonadilla for two guitars? There are many passages where the guitars are playing Spanish-sounding runs but with the parts are separated by the interval of a 2nd! Sounds all wrong if you listen with ears in conventional mode but incredible if you listen without preconceived tonal expectations. I was asked to perform a newly composed gtr duet once where the two guitars were tuned a quarter tone apart. Talk about unconventional tonalities. Man, the stuff you were just playing is right up my alley.

Thanks, Jack. Appreciate the kind words. I tried to bury the lead a bit, as it's got lots of klunkers, but the song is cool, and I did manage a few runs that fit it. I just couldn't edit out all the bad stuff, so left it. Again, thanks.

Thanks much Tim. This was a bit long for me, and I originally intended to find a 30 second spot where I hit some good notes, and edit it out. I never quite acheived this, so just left it intact. I am going to try and do it again, if I find the time, but am actually supposed to be doing vocals for a few tracks, so may not get another chance.
Thanks again.
Ed

Ok, my friend worked on my amp, and made it not hiss and pop all the time, so i did something I've never done before. Mic'd my amp. Way different tone. So, I tried the solo again, and this is what came out. (I had a few beers before, during and after....)

I tried to get in a better groove with the music.....

Thanks, j. Second one is better, if you can say that. I mic'd it, and got a better tone. Stayed with the rythum better, at least for me.
