I'm about as metal as plastic.
jonnyc said:Ok though seriously. I'm having a debate with someone and need to know if an el84 based tube amp is capable of achieving a fullout metal tone. I've been informed that the preamp section is much more important. I'd like to if this is true or if it's some kind of combonation. All I know is every crunchy british style amp seems to run on el84 tube while more "metal" type amps I've seen run 6l6's.
I think you can achieve that sound just by "scooping" the mids when you eq. The tube you have makes some difference, but it's mostly knowing where to cut the eq....jonnyc said:Ok though seriously.
