lead guitar is a little low in the mix. I like the added keyboard.

organs sounds a little too clean fer me. maybe a little distortion? and yeah, the lead 'response' guitar, a little louder compared to the vocals.

I thought it might be....I got ear burn and should have waited till tommorrow to finish the mix before I posted it. Thanks

We went direct with the organ and put it thru a tube pre...to avoid that problem. I agree, it is pretty clean for blues. Those old blues recordings had b-3's blowing out through leslie amps and it was distorted going in.
Im going to tweak some tomorrow
thanks syrupcore

Jimi, you must have fixed it already, or I've got ear fatigue from recording for a couple hours.... it sounded balanced to me (no, I am not on cheap pc speakers, LOL). The organ was a bit too clean, but hell it definitely added a good vibe to the song!
Nice work again!

Nice version.
Pull the guitar up in the solo's in particular,
and I agree with the others - distort the hell out of that hammond!!
(I did a lot of touring with Rory..... :(

jimistone,

I love this tune...nice job....guitar is very Robert Cray..

sjoko2,

....you toured with Rory....some details please.....I saw plenty of his gigs when I lived in Ireland.

/mcmd

In terms of audio technique, B3 sounds "half in the closet"....in other words they need EQ'ing to suit the "space". Needs to cut through.

In terms of "Bluesville-dom", this additional keyboard effort might benefit from some dynamics (volume swells to be specific) that B3's can deliver at a "foot pedals notice". Hell, I don't even play those things, but I know what one of those devils can do...and that is they can wail if they want to! Overall volume balance on organ is cool. Repetitive chords on 2 and 4 get old and sound like a guitarist cross-trained on the keys at times. Sorry, man....I can be a ballbuster...but this tune deserves more balls, IMHO.

"BIGGER BLUEZ-BALLS WANTED. INQUIRE WITHIN"

More percussive chords for starters, without of course taking the focus away from the main performer. (can anyone tell I am a keyboardist yet?) Dude...retrack with your friend on some Cannabis or Cognac perhaps, or just a funkier vibe happening....and Q the B3 to slice through sonically. My 2 ce....I mean dime --Lee

PS.... Hey M, didja' get those 2 files I sent you on your Netzero account on 3.2.05? Filus Dissapearus Webicus?

I liked it before and I think I like it even more now, but I agree with the other people about the organ. It just sounds to clean and doesn't cut through the mix well. I think maybe the drums need a little more reverb, maybe. They may be fine how they are. I really hope you get the organ sounding good. The sound of a B-3 is my favorite sound.

not a big fan of the kick sound from over here. But can't offer you any advice on how to fix it haha. Opinions are like assholes :D

Well, the organ track is not a B3. Its a yamaha DX-7 with some other kind of sound module hooked up to it. We wanted to do it with a B3 and a leslie, but don't have access to either. So, until we can do it with a B3, I will try to work with some distortion and EQ and see what happens.

I wonder if using a progrma like b4 would get a sound that is closer. Or you could try getting organized trio which is free and I have only heard good things about it.

im not familer with that program or organized trio. What is that?

have you tried sending it back out and re-amping it?
mix the two and depending on a thousand factors some times it's really pleasing
(despite impediance problems)
it's worth a try

Well I am here at school and web sense is being a punk but I think this will link you to some information about organized trio. B4 is a similar program, but it costs $200 compared to organized trio being free.

Hey, this aint bad Jimi.

Simple tune but it rocks.

Nothing sounds amazing but song sits well as a whole to me. Very live sound. the electronic drum sounds aren't even that bad mixed like this. The kick is a bit humpy sounding but not horrible.

Sounds like fun, that's what it's all about.

I recorded the kick with an SM58, and had some bass guitar bleed thru. I had to gate it in this mix. Im going to retrack the bass drums. Thanks jack
