Mesa Rectifier question

Our guitar player is trying out a Single Rectifier head+cab. Is it normal to have a slight delay when changing channels? This is very annoying, we have alot of songs that change from distortion to clean mid riff.

I haven't been able to find any other information on the internet on this.

That sounds like a defect to me but I don't own a rectifier, I own a Mesa DC-5. My channel switcher is instantanious.
 
if its a 2 channel if shouldnt have a delay but if its a 3 channel then there is due to the switching mechanism...so i have been told
 
It's just a single rectifier, 2 channel. It's really annoying and is probably going to be the deal killer for the amp. Sucks 'cause it sounds great!
 
I owned a 3 channel Triple Rectifier up until a few months ago. I never experienced any delay between switching channels.

Have you contacted Boogie directly about this? There are so many bands playing that style of music that use Boogies, I can't imagine that it would be normal
 
Yeah, it is not the actual amp that he is getting, it is just a lender to try with the band. He hasn't bought it yet, thanks for the info guys.
 
could be that the relays need some cleaning or servicing. I've never played on a mesa that didn't switch instantaneously, though I've only ever tried out my friends dual recto and Mark IV..III? darnit I can't remember which.
 
Ive got a dual, and have never had that issue.
Sorry, im not sure about the singal.
 
Just a follow up FYI thing, our guitarist brought home a brand new Single Rectifier, and lo same problem. Even if you manually switch from the back of the head there is about a half second pause. It really F*cks us up in our timing. I've done some searching on the net, and found people with the same issue, some don't care as they don't switch mid song, others have contacted Mesa and been told this is a "feature" so that there is not an audible click when switching, sounds like crap to me.

It's really too bad because the amp sounds great
 
My '94 Triple Rectifier switches instantly. I'm not sure if they changed the switching method in any way, but I wouldn't suspect them to do something that dumb. Then again, they made the reverb lag when switching channels on the Road King. :(

Ah... the Road King. So close to the perfect amp, too bad your reverb sucks balls.
