I have a silly quistion regarding the power amp out put on my Mesa Triple Recto, just wanting to know if i can run a line out using the power amp out on the mesa and run it into the input on my Presonus Firepod without damaging the input, dont want to preamp the preamp. so basically will it burn it up?
Thanx

If you mean to use the speaker output of the Mesa into the Presonus, get ready to say "can you smell that", "it smells like smoke in here"! You stand an excellent chance of destroying the Presonus and a good chance of toasting the output on the Mesa once the "temporary load" goes up in flames.

You need a line level output for that activity not a speaker output.

Slave outs are usually second power amp outputs for chaining a second cabinet on the head. If yo hook that output to your firepod, there is a really good chance that you will be sending anywhere between 30 and 150 watts to an input that usually expects it's signal to be measured in milli watts.

Actually, xstatic, i dont' think that's true here. Slave outs like that are usually just the output from the preamp and are standard lineouts used when one wants to use an external poweramp.

Of course, I may be wrong.

Here ya go...

SLAVE LEVEL, SLAVE OUTPUTThe Slave system is an adjustable Direct Output that can be used to feed a mixing boardor another power amplifier. The signal is taken right from the output transformer where thetone is best and loading problems are avoided. When using the Slave, be sure to first getthe desired sound on the Bass 400 with the Slave Level at zero. Then turn up the SlaveLevel until the proper output level is achieved.

Couldn't find my manual...the Mesa site isn't always the final stop for info...looks like it is a line level output.

Cheers ;)

Thanx for the input guys, I believe that clerifies my question. Much appreciated.
