No worries. I started recording when I was about 20... I had two SM-57s (still have those mikes) along with a pair of Shure A95UFs (those low to high impedance converters to run balanced mikes into unbalanced inputs). No real mike preamps. I just ran the mikes into the impedance converters and then direct into my Otari 1/4" 4 track or maybe first through my one effects unit, an MXR delay. That and a Roland Juno-6. Mixed down to cassette on a Roland line mixer. Those recordings sounded great!

Cheers,

Otto

Starting to buy microphones again after pimping out my preamp section. I'm one of those people who only buys used as well:

AKG C414-BXLS: $310
AKG D112: $120
Audix i5: $55
Cascade Fat Head w/Lundahl: $160 (installed Lundahl myself)

Looking to snag a tube condenser (SE Gemini, M-Audio Sputnik, Chameleon Labs TS-2), CAD M177 or M179, Shure SM7B or Heil PR-40 and maybe a Blue Baby Bottle.
