solid collection ... I actually just picked up an old Unidyne III SM57 on ebay and I'm curious as to how it will stack up against the newer 57's

That's 25 years of collecting ;-). You ought to see my box full of dead capsules! I am pretty proud of that pic. Note that you can even see the brass surround ring on the 414EB. I had to laugh the other day when I was looking at my myspace ( www.myspace.com/u47 ) pics. There's one pic where my drum kit is almost entirely obscured by vintage tube mics. Hey, that's a 50s gretsch roundbadge kit back there! You guitarists will love my personal studio guitar rig too, check it out in the pics.

I'd actually like to live as long as the number of mics that I own. I wonder if there is a causal relationship? The more mics I own the longer I live? :D
