...Unbelievable..this thread will be found by archeologists and studied...

....and why?
Microphones...the other white powder....
I started dumb and poor in 2001 doing music recording at home, with some experience from my pro video work as far as sound goes, and I have sold a couple of original music pieces along the way, but really....
Mics: In the beginning there were Marshalls..one
basic black (the V67) and one basic bling (the V67 gold and green) simply because the latter was on sale, and having two seemed a good idea.
Then the inevitable Shure 57 and 58. It's the law, don't fight it....just get them for that rain-drenched night on some crappy stage when nothing else works and you can throw them up and the crowd is happy.
Then I got divorced....20 years of smuggling small and not so small items past someone who should ultimately not only know but approve a lot more than she did...but that's the universal condition.
And then came the Neumanns.
1 M147 (Used/Mint): 1300
2 KSM 184 Factory-matched small condensers (Used/Mint): 1066
And finally the big blood-letter:
The Neumann SM 69 stereo mic (Used/Mint.) Can't say I had a conscious need for it, but when it showed up on EBay, suddenly I discovered my Inner Location Recordist, and had to have it...3100...with a standing invitation to sell it back to the owner if I should not need it anymore, for the same amount I bought it for.
So, suddenly location M/S recording is something I want to try..
And in the " nice looking but possibly quite useless" department i have a Telefunken Art Deco Bakelite mic from the 50es I got in France, small but very cute looking, and mint in box, with Euro plug.
Also, a Shure 55-style chrome-with-grids classic 50es mic, but this one with the Dukane logo on it, from a PA package Dukane evidently licensed from Shure. That does work.
A very bi-polar collection...pardon the pun.
Best,
C.
