Virtually all of this stuff was picked up used with a few minor exceptions. A real bottom feeder's collection. Purely for a basement project studio.

I wish I could find another M101.

I also wish it would happen when I could afford it :(

(1) AT 4050
(2) Altec M20
(2) Rode NT5
(3) AKG - Some sort of Beta 58 copy... can't remember the name
(1) Audix D6
(1) SM57

I need a few more LDCs. Maybe a Studio Projects, or the AT 3035. I've been very impressed with the Audix D series. I borrowed a D4 from a friend and prefer that over the D6 for kick drum and bass guitar. I also want a pair of Audix i5 mics... a nice alternative to the SM57.

Cant find my old post but i know ive got some new things in the list so i decided to post an update.

Im amazed at what some people have. Some of those lists look like they are copied straight out of Abbey Road or some similiar studio.

Anyway heres mine. Ran into a few smaller mics that were set aside as garbage from a few people and found in garage sales or things like that. Newly acquired a Unidyne 545D and a EV 635A that seemed to have come out of no where.

After a self-imposed hiatus (where I practically cleared out the studio) I decided to jump back in...so here's the "new", albeit small collection:

Rode NTV
Microtech Gefell M930
Rode NT5 (pair)
SM57
Sm 58 (3)
Sennheiser E609 (2)
Sennheiser E602
Astatic JT30

I've adopted a "less is more" attitude, you know, one good mic /processor/etc. vs. four or five lo-mid items...the above collection might not reflect this, but some are holdovers, so there you go.

Still wish I had my RE20 (Bruce, will you sell it back to me? :) )
but I don't really miss anything else....don't do a lot of live drums anymore at the studio, so unless that changes, I'm pretty well good to go...lots more I'd like, but as my wife says, do I really need them?

Wow...lots of cool mics and lots more that I know nothing about. Here's my very small "collection" of mics...

Rode NTK
MXL V67G
Sennheiser e609s
Shure SM58 x2
Sony Dynamics X2 I have no idea what model or anything...I don't use them

I'm actually surprised by the results of that poll. I wouldn't think so many people would only have 3-5 mics. I'm definitely in the 13 or over catagory. But only one is a condenser, so all the others hardly even count. :)

Oh, I wouldn't say that. There are lots of very cool dynamic mics. Sometimes much better than a condensor for a particular application or a particular sound. Shure SM7 and EV RE-20 for vocals for example. RE-20 on horns. Sennheiser MD421 on toms. Beyer M201 or Sennheiser MD441 on snare. And then there are ribbon mics (which are dynamic mics). All a matter of taste of course, but dynamics shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.

i posted a while back, but i'm lazy and will post again :p

shure sm58
shure unidyne III 545 x3
sennheiser e835 x2
sennheiser e609
EV RE-38 (large diaphragm dynamic, similar to RE-20)
Studio Projects B1
MXL 603 x2
MXL V67G
MXL V77
BLUE Dragonfly

i'm sure i'm forgetting something...

the RE38 is my go-to mic for my voice....it's just about perfect for me--although the dragonfly and v77 do see occasional action there. the 603s are my go-to mics for my acoustic (other acoustics vary), and lately i tend to mic my amps with a combo of the 609 with either the dragonfly or v77. everything else tends to sit around "just in case". comes in handy when i record a band live, or someone using gear other than mine.

i could prolly easily make-do with just the RE38, 609, dragonfly and v77 if i had to (and if i never had to mic drums). i've tended to gravitate towards gear that works for me, much like joel noted above.

cheers,
wade

Shure PG52 - kick, bass
Shure SM58A - screaming vocals, snare
Shure SM58 (x2) - live vocals
GLS Audio ES-57 (x3) - snare, guitar
MXL 2001 (x2) - vocals, overheads
Nady 7pc set - scratch tracl

I don't use that Nady set except for scratch tracks when all the other mics are on the drums. I'm going to be buying a pair of MXL 993's for overheads and maybe some better tom mics. The ES-57's are awesome, using it for guitars and snare (and some toms). I'm probley going to get some better ldc's too.

I was only joking. Of course I love my 57's and Senheiser tom mics. It's my AKG $20 mics I couldn't care less about. :D

4 m20(card) caps
4 m21(hyper) caps
2 m27(omni ) probably about 5100.00 for all those, got em used.

I thought the AT4060 was too, as well as the AKG Solidtube.

I think both of those come with their own power supplies, dont think they can run off p48.

I stand corrected, thanks!

I actually got that info from Gefells site, so I need to tell them that they need to update it with the right info. So far, those two are the only p48 tubes ive seen.

thanks agaiN!
