I asked this question on another area of this board but NO response. So maybe I will get atleast one answer here. What are the advantages of using either smart media cards or secure digital type cards? I understand that hard drives do crash and that they do hold alot more data. I have also seen some card type recorders that record at 16bit/44hz. So what are some advantages/disadvantages of these machines. Just curious!

choises

there are three,

record directly into pc, advantages, great recordings, disadvantages, dealing with latency and sound card compatibility issues.

stand alone daw, big hard drive, expensive to me anyway, limited mastering and effects but great results....

combination daw with pc, mr8, records onto cf card, no latency relitively inexpensive, hundreds of free effects on the net, move files to computer and mix and edit there with additional softrware, i like n track , many good programs...but mr8 kind of fragile buttons, limited space on card, but transfer to pc solves this....really need a mixer, mr8 preamps are week and need addition gain....
