Me doing Billy Joel ... because it was obvious I had to. :)

Really good performance. That you playing piano, Kev? Impressive. Nice sound on the piano, too. I continue to maintain though that whatever mic or voodoo you're putting on your vocal these days is doing a disservice to the sound of your voice. Yes, I will probably continue to remark on this as long as you continue to pursue this mad path of mix idiosyncrasy.

Performance is good. The piano is fine (dry, but fine for piano) but the amount/type of effects on the vocal don't sound natural. I'd try a tighter room reverb, there's too much tail delay on the voice. This is an example where IMO the sound stage should be consistent, so dry piano = tight/dry reverb on the vox.

Yep. Me on keys. It's my primary instrument. I'll fix the vocal. Pinky is right. :)

Excellent point. I'll fix. With this song, intimate is okay ... so I'll shorten it and dry it.

Good recording. Good performance. Your vocal is a bit more smoother than the original. Takes some of the punch out of the song.

As I was listening, I thought to myself, I am hearing some Randy Newman in that voice. Just a thought. :D

Maybe a little David Bowie too? :)

New version/mix is up on the link. I've brought the reverb down and put the piano and voice in the same space ... as per Pinky's suggestion. He was right. It's better.

Really great :)!

I might bring the vocal down 1 db to blend in with the piano some more.

Thanks guy! I experimented with a lower vocal level and thought it dipped a little too far into the piano at points. Maybe I'll bring it down 1/2 a db and see if the balance improves.
