I guess I should actually re-read before I post, sheesh I suck!
I have not really used the Virtual tracks on the recorder but I know it has something in the manual about the process. I will try and take a peek at it tonight and let you know what I find out!

Yo Man of Muse:

May the muses favor you.

I would have to say that there are virtual tracks on the Sony you refer to.

There are virtual tracks on my Yamaha MD-8; 8 of them per channel.

I've just figured out part of the secret of how to access them which has to do with setting the ins/outs of the tracks.

Since 8 tracks are usually plenty for me, I haven't HAD to use the virtual tracks. I can usually have the talent sing on two or three tracks and then pick the best one. But, usually a good take doesn't take long if the talent has talent.

Enjoy, but 8 tracks is much better than 4; you don't have to fudge around with bouncing and lose control of each part when you go to mixing down.

Looking thrue the users manual, I don't see anything.
One easy way to create virtual tracks is to make copys of the song.
Good Luck

YO Yo YO:

I guess the Sony must have been a cheap unit. Or, the Sony engineers are lost in virtual reality or continuous ambiguity.
