I have a question about the Sennheiser MD441. The one I own has a 5 position bass roll off and a brightness on/off switch.

On the bass roll off, one position side is marked “S” and is the steepest roll off. The other side is marked “M” and has no roll off. There are three other positions between these, not marked.

On my mic, I get a distinct hum on the “S” position, a bit less on the position next to “S” and all the other three positions get no hum. The brightness switch seems to not affect the hum on any bass roll off setting.

Is this a problem with my mic or do you get this hum on these settings as well? If it is a faulty mic, can I get it fixed or should I get a different 441?

Thanks in advance.

My mics don't hum in any of the roll off positions. Sounds like you have a problem with your mic. By the way, the S is for SPEACH and the M is for MUSIC.

Contact Sennheiser. btw, great choice on the mic. The 441 is one of my favorite microphones.
