MD421U - photos/question

Greetings Gang,

I have a Sennheiser MD421U with a problem. This mic just stopped working one day. I wasn't dropped (that I know of).

It took a while for me to figure out how to get the thing apart but I finally did (thanks to Harvey Gerst for that info). Here's what that looks like. (I hope I got the photos linked correctly.)

Now, take a look at this one.

The middle (blue) and right (ground) wires are clearly soldered to the coil wire on top of the mic. The left (red) wire, however, doesn't seem to be connected to anything. Here's another angle.

Does anyone know what this red wire should be connected to?

Any help will be appreciated.

I meant to say "It wasn't dropped..."
I, on the other hand, WAS dropped on my head as a small child.
