I just purchased 4 mci jh 110's (these are all either b or c's). I have a 1/4" 1/2 track already (model a). The machines are 1/4" mono, 1/2" 1/4 track (no heads) and two 1" video layback machines (one missing headstack). All work to some degree. The mono and 1/4 track are in bridge type mci cabinets and the laybacks are in variable profile cabs. I have a library of 1/4" tape and mainly want to work in that format (I have 2 extra 1/4" 1/2 track headstacks to work with in addition to the complete working 110a). I wanted to convert as many as possible to 1/4" 1/2 track but was wondering besides tape path components what obstacles I might be facing (power supplies, boards, etc),

Thanks for any input,

Andy

Well, I had bought a few of the JH-110 B's & I think C's they also worked to some degree. Since they are older they were going to be harder to maintain so I sold all of them. I think it was the best decision I could make. Do your homework and weigh your options. Good luck.

my jh 110a was a real eye opener in terms of the design reliability of the brand, but have to say that your money can go a long way with mci machines. The 1" laybacks are in the best condition, look factory new (in terms of internals and tape path components). I will probably though transfer the 1/4" compatible transports from the bridge to the vp cabs. I'm distracted by a nagra iv-l but promise due diligence with the mci's!
