Whasup folks. I was thinking about copping me an m box 2 so i'll get protools. Right now i use Sonar(Which is Great!). Only reason i want protools is because i know alot of industry folk want the tracked out beats in a protools session(). So, would it be more beneficial for me to get the Mbox 2 or Mbox 2 mini? I thought about getting M-Powered(since i use an m-audio audiophile pci) but i don't know if you can transfer mixes from m-powered to regular pro tools. Also, i was wondering if i got the mbox would i still be able to use my favorite programs(acid pro, sonar, adobe audition, etc.) with the hardware(mbox). Holla at me if you can help me out homies.

Well, answered my own question as far as mbox 2 vs mini.

all i know is that i got an mbox with protools le an factory bundle witha studio booth an mic, an anytime ive needed to deal with other professionals you always know yer gonna be straight with showin em yer mixes cause you have the industry standard. that alone is worth it feel me. Protools is compatible with thousands of plugins that would blow out all of the other programs you've enjoyed outta the water. Not to say there not good programs, but theres more technical versions in the music biz, that you'll see the pro's using. Its about as versatile is it can get, its meant for MUSIC as a whole not just one specific genre, an also easily adds to yer creativity. hope you figure it all out bra, piece...

i have 3 friends and they all use pro-tools but they have HD....If you do decide the MBOX route..or maybe a used digi oo2 you can send it to a company called black lion .. http://www.blacklionaudio.com/index.html
and they modify them, if i went pro tools and didnt get Hd this would be my first step in upgrades...

That's the same thing i was thinkin. I'd really want hd or the digi if i went protools since just i found out protools le is limited to 32 audio tracks! Thats whack yo. It's straight for tracking out my beats, but not for MY full songs, as far my stuff is concerned. If imma drop 4 and a half bills on something, it's gotta be significantly better than what i got! LOL. Not that i'm saying protools isn't good, i just think it's a tad bit overrated as far as the more consumer priced versions are concerned. I'd be better off working on getting better quality outboard gear(mics, pre's, etc) to go in my current interface. For now, i can do everything i really need to do with sonar. I'll just track out my stuff as normal and provide tempo info and embed the track name data into each track(snare, kick, etc). I wish i had the HD bucks! Thanks for all the feedback everyone has added so far. I should researched more than i did before i posted the thread. My bad.

This isn't true at all, fam. ProTools doesn't have better plugs than Logic, or Sonar or anyone... not sure why you think that's true?

ProTools is sonically no different than any other recording platform available. Don't buy into the hype, you're just propogating the falsehoods.

i would personally go with the mini cuz i have a tascam fw-1082 that i can use hui with pro-tools, just need the mini for the monitors so i can hear it
