"Control Freak"

Kind of like Rush meets Devo????

There's both a LoFi and Hi Fi stream. If
ya like it enough, I'll switch it to DL for those that may want a copy...

Make it so it'll download...from what I could hear it sounded better than Rush...this song rocked but I can't tell much about the mix...great tune...I downloaded Chubby Kenny while I was at yer site...it's great and a cool mix too...sounded like you were having some fun on that one...gibs

Hi gibs..

Thanks...ah, it is downloadable now. :)

Chubby Kenny!! There's a story behind that.
A while back on another musicians board, a chap who did electronic music had a huge library of loop drum samples.

Well, he started a little contest. He posted 5 loops on idrive out of his vast library and wnated to see who could come up with something the fastest. I grabbed three, and after four hours of goofing (I was laughing whilst doin it mind you), I came up with this. His Handle on the BB was Chubby Ken, he gave me the drum loops hence the very deep lyrical content.

Everybody else came up with something in a couple of days. I put mine up the same day. It was quite a fun thing... :D

Can ya tell I like Curtis Mayfield on that one!!

PS...I been posting a sh_tload of stuff...so, if your compelled to wander, help your self!!

Thanks gibs, enjoy Control Freak. Loud, that tune rattles yer drawers..

thanks again. ric

Ric, Flame War- You played it in the wrong key. There were a couple of bad rhymes. The bottom end was thin. The top end was thick. The mid-range was, uh, too mid-rangey. The drums were too loud. The lead was to good, I mean- bad! OK- I liked it- alot!

Holy mother of milk was that good stuff. I especially liked Into You, and of course Flame War. I couldn't believe that sound you are getting, everything, perrrrrrrrrfect, at least to me. You are a talented human being, let me tell you.
I really can't wait to hear more from you, please keep us posted, will ya?
bobbo
ps. any hints on your setup and production?

gibs

heehee... :o...I had to write that song. People on certain BB's were real toads and I felt compelled. But, I wanted it to be likable to the Flamer as well as the Flamed...I had tears in my eyes recording that! Thanx for the kudos...comments like this helps me believe in what I'm doing...come to think of it....what the hell am I doing anyway!!!! :D
Did ya dig that Zydeco beat!!!!! Hotter n
Cajun Cookin I tell ya.

I like the song. I like the parts. I like most of the sounds, except the lead tone, and the snare.

I didn't like the hyped hi mids. I didn't care for the what sounded like processor harmonies in the intro. I also thought the bass guitar, or synth bass, could have been louder without steping on anything in the mix.

them be real life human beans singing dem parts! :) thanks for the critique sonusman(Ed), I appreciate it. I can rework the bass
on a remaster session.

Listened to Flame War, Gibs made me do it!! This was really great. Music stopped, but song still going in my head, like good food that repeats. Required listening!!!

Very good and interesting mixes. I don't really know what to say, they sound great. Your voice is very Yes-like, but you already knew that. Weird stuff man, please take that in the spirit that was intended!

Thanks GT!! Hey...how does gibs get you to
do sumthin when he's all the way in TX!?!?! :)

Mark James Seitz
Thanks Mark..I DL'd your whole IUMA page.
Your stuff as a lot of Rush flavor. Lots
of neat timing and syncopations. My fav of the four was "On My Side", nice songwriting
on that. Hey, I noticed you were born in Natick, MA....I'm about 30-40 minutes from there... Too bad ya moved.. :)

see ya, and thanks for the kind words.

This is great music. You have an excellent voice, I've had that "It's my time to go" stuck in my head, good stuff. Listened to all of them, sound great. You have an excellent voice. Almost reminded me a bit of Gillan in a way, but the Yes stuff is in their for sure.

I like the groove in "Control Freak" a lot ... even though techno ain't really my bag.
You have a well developed voice. I definitely hear the influences of the singers you list under Similar Artists. But ... on "Why'd Ya Have to Leave" ... it reminds me so much of Adrian Belew (www.murple.com/adrianbelew) who is one of my favorite artists. All these tunes are pretty damn good (Flame War is hilarious!) but that's why this one is my favorite. Nice work.

Thanks for taking the time to D/L my stuff Ric, I appreciate your kind words. I only lived in Natick for a couple of days as a newborn, but I lived in Westfield, MA for my first six years. I visited about five years or so ago and I really enjoyed myself. It's a beautiful state! Thanks again Ric!

Emeric

Thanks dood! :) Appreciate your time listening...yeah, I think a little Gillan is in there too...my vox is a weird melting pot
I think...

BigKahuna

Well, I think I have to update my similar
artist paragraph. Your about the tenth person to equate me vox(always that song too)
with Adrian Belew. (Who I also have the utmost admiration for.) Saw him "live" at the Paradise Club in Boston a few years back with the bears...I love "Standing in the Shadow"...the show was killer!

Well gents, thanks for taking time out to listen to my art. Always willing to listen in to yours when available...just give a shout or a post or...well whatever.

Ooops almost forgot ya Mark....np on the music words...they were for real!!

I love Mass. Though the weather can be weird. We were getting snow flurries all day today. yikes

Working on anything new music wise??

Hey Ric, the weather can't be any worse than it is in Wisconsin! Although I must admit that it doesn't get that bad down here in La Crosse.

I'm always working on new stuff...trying to write lyrics to a huge backload of music. I just wish I worked as fast on lyrics as I do on music. I'm getting a little better at finding the "zone", I think it's just practice.

Just listened to your Flame Wars and loved
it man. Real clean sound, catchy lyrics and
beat. Will listen to some more. I gotta get
my daughter to listen to it, shes going to
want to put it on a cd but wont let her unless you give the ok. email me and let me know, i wouldn't want to become a pirate! If
you dont contact me I wont let her copy it.

Ever thought of collaborating?? On my page
at mp3.com, there are two collabs where I
supplied the lyric/melody/vocal parts to
pre-existing music tracks. Just a whimsical
thought. I have other collabs too. I have done stuff with guys from Holland, CA, OH, IL
NC and am currently doing a whole CD's worth of stuff with two doctors from Germany.
Think about it...might be cool.

dragonworks

Your a good man Charlie Brown. :)
emailed ya.
