may seem like a stupid question...

they will be ok with a CDr. I just sold my DAT D5, I only got a few peanuts for it, but I did not use this unit for a few years so...I sold it.
 
thank god...i read the section on this page about "WHY SHOULD I BUY A DAT MACHINE?" and really none of those reasons applyed to me, except that mastering would be easier....but since thats not the case, i can just use cd-rs and save $....thanks
 
The last time anyone came here with a DAT for mastering was 2 years ago. If one came now I'd cry.
Please note that many mastering housses now prefer data over red book CD-R
