Matching mic pre to sound card

Can one connect a mic pre with unbalanced ¼” outs to a sound card with XLR ins, without appreciable loss in signal quality?

How?
 
Why not just use the pre on the soundcard? Anyway, just use a 1/4'' to xlr converter. I'm not sure about the signal loss question, but it really shouldn't effect it that much.
