I had a disturbing thing happen today and I can't figure out what is going on. I had three disk errors in a row on my Masterlink when creating a Redbook CD. I noticed that when I rearranged my racks that I put an Avalon compressor under the Masterlink. Now I know that the Avalons put off a lot of heat because of the tubes, so I put ventilated spacers over both of them.

When I turned of the Avalon and the Masterlink and let everything cool down. I restarted the Masterlink and was able to burn two CDs without a problem.

I guess my question is. How heat sensitive is the Masterlink? Has anyone had a problem like this before? If so, is there any permanent damage?

I am going to rearrange the racks again to cut down on heat.

Thanks.

Avalons sound beatutiful but they can warm up a small room. :p

Electronics hate too much heat. Period. That is why there are always separate AC units cooling computer rooms....and with PCBs, a hard drive, and a CDR, the MasterLink is pretty much a computer-like device.

Separate them more if you can....

Mike,

Thanks for the reply. This coming weekend, I am further rearranging the racks to cut down on the heat problem. I used the Masterlink since then and it appears to be fine, so I hope no permanent damage resulted.

Lesson learned...Keep things COOL!

Regards,
Gary
