Mastering with Sony Soundforge.

Anyone use sony soundforge for their mastering? I'm using sonar 4 for my recording and mixing, but I've heard some people use soundforge for mastering. So, today I was tinkering around with soundforge and I came upon a little tool for maximizing the volume. It's in the tool section tab of the program and I played with it and I think it helps me raise the volume of my whole mix. What or how do you guys raise the master volume in your recordings without having any clipping?

I use Sound Forge 6 for editing and mastering.

Are you using the volume function or the normalize function? Either way, that's not gonna do much except raise the level - especially if your overall mix level is all over the place.

I was using the volume function on one of my mixes. But how do you get to the mastered volume of the final mix? I don't think I can raise the volume in sonar unless I start to clip.

You use a compressor and a limiter. Look up mastering in the search function. This question is answered 12 times a day around here. You also don't need to post the same question more than once.

I've used and still use Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5 for editing & mastering. It does what I need. Obviously I'm a few versions behind, so I can't comment on Sony's product.
