Hey, just had a quick new guy question for ya'lls. I am recording my band this weekend, part one of many sessions to come i'm sure.
Was wondering what goes into mastering. I haven't cracked a book
on the subject, and was wondering what most places that offer
mastering services require as far as what you bring them to get mastered.
I'm recording onto a Zoom 1608 unit with a cd burner, so how would i
download the audio to bring to them? And how would they upload it to
process everything?
sorry if i'm not making sense, just haven't really thought about this yet...
thanks ahead of time!

I imagine your could take the zoom unit into the mastering studio and just plug it into their setup and play it. Or you could burn the mix onto a cd and take that to em. If you can burn your mix as wav files to a data cd, instead of making a standard 44.1/16 audio cd, you could give them better than 44.1/16 if your zoom is capable.

Are you confusing mixing with mastering? Mastering is where they process your final 2 track mixdowns.
