Hey guys, I'm wondering which mastering program you use. Which is best? I'm not looking for a all-in-one program, just one for mastering.

not trying to sound rude

but i really don't think mastering is a
"all in one" kind of process

but t-racks will definately make a good place to start.

hey sound, Wavelab is a very good mastering program, it has alot of effects built in plus support for VST and DX plugs. It also has a very easy to use CD burning functon built in. However, be aware, if you use Samplitude, you have software to track, mix, master, and burn. Just a thought.

I started with t-racks 24- good stuff, but doesn't handle all of the tasks typically assigned to the mastering stage. Sounds good, though, to my ears.

Any wave editor with DX and VST support will do as long as you have good plugins. The Waves Bundle is widely concidered among the best. With the wave editor you can trim files to length and unleash your full arsenal of DSP plugs. I use Wavelab, but there are many other programs that work about as well.

Then you need CD burning and MP3 conversion software. T-racks no can do, but many of the wave editors can.

Fun stuff to play with. Go easy with those knobs and buttons!!

i usually master with Waves Plugins and Wavelab 4 or SX... i just started mastering with SX i like mastering with it over wavelab 4 right now

I recently went to a local mastering house and the guy there was using CremeWare's Triple DAT. He brought my analog tape in thorugh an Alesis Finalizer and dumped it to the PC and then all processing was done via Triple DAT. Came out sounding real nice.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I have lots of toys to look at. I'll probably end up using wavelab or soundforge, and maybe using T-racks with em.
