I have just finished mixing for a band that I also did all the tracking for, while I have recorded a few projects before, this was the first time that I was the one who did the mixing. Now it is time to send off to master. I was told to send the 24 bit versions of the mixes'. My question is.... how do you make a cd of the 24 bit mixes? I am under the impression that using Jam or Toast or whatever burning program will make these into 16bit audio cd's, so do I make a data cd? and if so how do they master that? I am just very unclear on this whole subject. I use a Mac/ pro tools LE/ and recorded at 24bit 44k if this helps for any responses I may get.
Thanks for any help.

You provide the mixes as either a CD24 disc, or a data CD that contain the hi-res WAVs (or AIFF) files of your mixdown.

Set Toast to burn a 'Data disc' and drop your audio files into the window. Make you burn it mac/pc compaitible just in case...

You would burn a data CD instead of an audio CD. In the case of Mac this is really easy. Just put in a blank CD and drag the audio files to the CD, then drag the CD icon to the trash bin to burn it.

Ok thats enough!!

Brad and I are "cousins" now - In a good & bad way...

The good way: I'm mastering an album from a band that Brad has mastered before.

The bad way: This is the follow-up to the album that Brad mastered - It's on Katz's "CD Honor Roll" - Talk about pressure!

Thank you, for your replies, just curious what is a cd24?

It's a 24bit audio disc. The Alesis Masterlink will write them and I'm not sure what else.
