Hey Kids,

I put up a lil 2 minute clip of not mastered vs. Mastered. A pro with very big credentials did this, he does mainly classical.

2 clips of Danse Macabre

Obviously, the best way to do an A/B doesnt involve mp3s on Soundclick :D

Its a lot more subtle being classical music. The volumes on the whole disc are pretty low, but there are a lot of dynamic contrasts. In this clip its all pretty soft, the rest of the piece is louder.

To tell the truth Dave, I prefere the un-mastered one. It seems less brittle to me.

Very interesting Mike. I am not gonna state an opinion yet, to me they dont sound much different. On the whole disc I could hear a difference, but I am trying to be objective, hence this lil test.

They both sound close. The mastered one sounds a little more "tamed" and controlled. But again, it's a close call.

The arrangement is very good.
is that a live violin?
