OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW

HERE IT IS WHILE I LOVE MY SETUP I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE FANTOM X8 HERE LATELY. it seems like a all in one setup. right now i got the mp7, px7, and mk6 keyboard all fully rommed out but i am still loking for a sampler and constantly having to connect and rechain the midi. so iwas figuring the fx8 has all that i have plus the sampler all in one shot. any body got any reviews on this joint the good the bad and the ugly.

oh and whats the diff between the 8 and 6 cuz all i am seing is weighted keys and number of keys

I got the Fantom x-7, the best keyboard out of Roland's series in my opinion. I couldn't stand the weighted keys for the x-8. If you have a part in a track where you want to rapidly and repeatedly press a key, thats a no-no with the x-8. The x-7, in my opinion, combines the larger keyrange comparable to the x-8, but without the weighted keypads. You could say that instead of using the keys to do the rapid sequencing, just use the pad... but I find it difficult to press the pad at a high rate with a constant pressure (The pad has touch sensitivity too). It's deffinitely a worthwile keyboard if you got the money. The x-8 is just more expensive without any benefits, and on the contrary, the weighted hammer-action keys are a deficit. The extra keys on the x-7 would have been nice... but the difference of 12 keys between the 88 key x-8, and the 76 key x-7 is not enough to pay the difference in price.

Unless space is an issue , I'd say go x7.

I never used the sequncer on it . sounds are top notch I got the XR so does Jug. I dont use the sampler cuz of the small LCD. but the X's have a nice large color LCD so u gotta love that. Only 8 audio tracks with the V2 upgrade.
