Och aye di noo jimmy. Any comments on yone kick?

Awesome song...what I can hear of it. Im out of town and unable to listen through my monitors, so i have to settle for my cuz's PC speakers. I am unable to hear a kick at all...could very well be the speakers though.

Im glad you dig the song man, cheers.

Strange as i was just listening to the song on one of my stereos at home and i also couldnt really notice the kick drum. But on every other stereo i have listened to it on the kick sounded really meaty even on my rubbish tiny PC speakers.

It is quite a deep kick sound but it still has the punchy slappy sound.
Im confused as to how i couldnt hear it on one (only the one!) of my stereos.

i heard it once or twice. other than that it was completely buried.

Woahh. nasty! What are you monitoring on?
Try feeling it rather than listening to it as it is quite a deep kick. I think the mastering might have burried it a bit.

I can't hear the kick either. The drums are overly compressed which killed the attack. It sounds like the whole mix was run through a sonic maximizer type plugin that squashed the midrange and boosted the bass.

I couldn't really hear the kick much either. On my system, the bass in general just sounded boomy and flappy. I couldn't make out much.

Y'all aren't by chance fans of Incubus are you?

the mastering buried the bassdrum?
You mean that stuff has been mastered? (you are kiddind I hope)

Well I have a very basic system, no sub (yorkville ysm-1) and I can hear the kick, but the mix is SOO HARSH and the low-end soo hyped, really gives me ear fatigue quickly.

Seriously, I hope you didn't pay much for this overcompressed stuff you got from the "mastering" house... Deal with people who know what they are doing, not just any kid who has an L2 plugin...

yeah i dont really haer the kick im monitoring on Wharfedale 8.2s

Seriously, everyone should be able to at least HEAR the kick... I am monitoring as I said with yorkville YSM-1... I got my meter showing about 80-85db, and I can hear the kick. Concentrate on very deep lows. and the click is not very pronounced like your usual 3k boost.

I mastered it myself so thats why it aint sounding too hot a master. And no compression was used for mastering and only a little compression on the drums. Ths snare sounds that way because thaat is the way the snare sounded. (bad snare drum!!)

No sonic maximiser was used atall. By saying the mid range is squashed do you mean it isnt as loud as the lo and hi end? I made a cut at 5K because the guitars were a bit harsh on the ears and i also boosted from 120Hx down a few dB, so this might be what you are noticing.

Sorry to post soo many, but please take a listen to "PHRANTIK NEW" and let me know if anyone can hear the kick much. I can notice the kick in "PHRANTIK" a wee bit more than in "Moment of tracnsparency".

Cheers all.

I could not hear the kick at all. the singer is singing out of key especially on the harmonies. It actually made my head shake, and my eyes squint. No offense meant to you, but he's definantly out of key somewhere.

the second song, i could hear the kick a little, but not enough to be able to even feel it.

Until the distorted guitars come in you can make it out, then it disappears.

i can kinda hear it, but it's sure as hell not the currently accepted (or "in") kick sound.

i'd try to bring out some top end on it, maby it'll come out more in the mix, or try scooping the mids.

the top (of the song) is a little harsh but i can't tell whats going on because it has the mp3 swirlies so bad.

re-post it with less limiting and little or no master eq so we can hear whats going on better.

Ok the unmastered version of Phrantik is called.
"PHRANTIK unmastered"

and the mastered version
"PHRANTIK NEW MASTER"

I do take into account and respect (almost) every opinion given to me, but to say that the kik drum in PHRANTIK is hard to hear and also that it isnt the right sound is just wrong in my opinion. The kik is easily recognisable and distinctive and i think it is a nice kik sound, not the best, but still im happy with its deep and slappy sound.
