i played a martin for the first time in a session last night, it was a d16 model,

it was a total wow factor the body was a little small but i liked that,

the guitar in all imo was total percision and the sound was amazing :)

Yeah, they are nice guitars. I personally don't play them because I feel like the majority of them have a tendency to resonate in the bass a bit. I still love them, they're just not the best for my style.

You think you're gonna buy it maybe? Wise choice if you can get a good price!

i was suprised by the bass coz the body was so small and my own acoustic is a jumbo and it has a little bit too much bass but thats probably why i tought the martin was soo nice

i really liked the neck it felt so right and it also had a tuner built in, i cant remember if ive ever seen that before but that was pretty cool

na, i would love to, ive totally fallen for the guitar but i would'nt be able to afford one, not this year anyway

here they are wicked pricey, the guy that owned it had a friend being it back from the states (NY) and it worked out about 1000euro cheaper

You need to try a 00016 then instead of a D.
Guitar is very similar to the EC model just $2000 less.

I just wanted to say, I know nothing about acoustic guitars. But my rhthym guitarist has a Martin he swears by.

I own a 1963 Martin D-28 - I've had it since 1967 or '68. (Originally owned by a neurosurgeon who took it out of the case, like, twice, and sold it to my dad for a very reasonable price.)

This guitar has spoiled me for acoustics. Two of my music buddies over the years have also had Martins - one had a D-35 and the other a D-41. All three guitars have that unique Martin combination of a full bottom end and a nice top-end bite. Just amazing tone.

I plan on being buried with mine. :D

No audio yet. I may have some pics scattered about, but I plan on doing a photo shoot of the entire harem soon, so the Martin will be in there.

Well, I have tracked it (multiple tracks, in fact) on a couple of songs but it's way back in the background. Plus I'm having a booger of a time getting a good mic setup on the thing because of my recording room limitations. (Very live and noisy. :o ) The bottom end of the guitar makes close micing with a cardoid pretty much impossible due to boominess. So I need to do some experimentation with moving the mic out a couple of feet on a quiet day when no one's in the house. ;)

In the meantime, you'll have to take my word for it. :D

You know, raven46, now that you mention it, I have done a bunch of demo tapes over the years playing that guitar, but I don't know where any of them ended up. :(

yep. Martin stopped using Brazilian in 1969. prices on pre-69 D28's have been climbing very markedly in the last 5-10 years.

I bet that guitar sounds *nice* and probably very, very big.

cheers,

I've played several Martin guitars, mostly the D models and they sound great. They have their own tone, especially in the bass that no other guitar has. When you hear a good Martin you know it's a Martin.

Believe it or not, the nicest sounding one to me was an $800 model, non-laminated. Sounded better than the one they had that was going for over $4,000.

Sigma guitars (like Epiphone is to Gibson) are also good. Nice, balanced tone but don't have quite the same sound as the Martin's. Then again, it was only about $350 and beat the hell out of every other guitar in that price range.

Needless to say, the next guitar I save up for is going to be a Martin. Even if it takes a year, or more.

Dude, a Drednaught is a huge body. There's really only one or two common flattop body styles which are larger (J-185 or J-200 style guitars), and dreds are one of the most bass heavy designs on the market.

Yes, although I have heard louder acoustics. It's a well-balanced sound that cuts through and is immediately recognizable.

i have a j-41 and an omc 16e koa. love both guitars. a good blend of tones to have. the j-41 has huge full tone, the omc is brighter...
