Can anyone tell me what the valvestate amps are like. I love the Marshall tube sound and I'm just wondering if these are a good cheaper alternative.
Thanks

Honestly....no.
Other answers may differ. Your mileage may vary.

I have an old 50w Marshall Valvestate and I think it sounds great. A bit thinner and fizzier than my TSL 100 but certainly usable. It worked really well in my old band that had two guitarists, as its thinness seemed to leave the sound a bit less cluttered.

They sound thin/tinny and nothing at all like a tube amp.

i mean, it's not a bad practice amp for your room if you want some high gainy solid state sounding amp. i have a small 1x12 valvestate 40v model 8040, and it's kinda cool for the room (although i never really use it, i just go downstairs and blast the JCM2000 stack lol) and yeah it sounds NOTHING like the jcm.

Terrible just terrible, not Marshall sound at all. My wife bought me one for my birthday 20 years ago. I promptly traded it in on a JCM900 which I still record with today.
