Picked up the V67G and the MXL990 and have been running some vocal tests. Here is what I have found for others going down this road.
The V67G - Exactly what Harvey has said. Dark but very smooth. Has a very pleasing quality in a mix. Warm sounding. I would say jazz vocals and ballads would really shine with this. Very pleased with the results.
MXL990 - Not as smooth as the V67G or as pleasing. Hard sounding but not digital hard. I guess others would say neutral sounding. Non flattering for weaker voices. It starts to really work if your doing loud vocals at about 3-4 inches out, so I will probably keep it for rock vocals or something that needs to sound in-your-face. Also worked well on my Vibrolux amp for guitar stuff.
