What is the difference between a regular 1960A cab and a JCM 900 Lead 1960 Cab? (other than wattage; the JCM is 150W right? and 1960A is 300W)

speakers and sound.

I assume you want us to tell you which is better though. neither is really better than the other.

the 1960 lead seems like a cab a guy really into metal/hardcore sounds would like. In my opinion it has a little tighter low end.

the 1960a is probably a little more suited for stuff that's not as heavy.

but that being said, someone else is going to come along and disagree with me completely, so your best bet would be to try them both out and decide which one you like more.

The 1960A is simple a style cab. 1960 is the model, A is angled...B would be for straight (bottom cab in the full stack).

The Lead is what speakers are in it. Vintage has different speakers. And the unmarked 1960A is different speakers also.

You really need to play them to find out what you need/want.

Helping the above post;by vintage, think like.. ac/dc.

1960 Vintage cab means it has Vintage 30's for speakers. Mesa uses Vintage 30's....Mesa ain't AC/DC land. :D :D :D :D

the thing is, im getting a pretty good deal on a cab (i think). i never played thru a JCM 900 Lead, and i can get it for $350. of course im going to play the cab before i buy it (gonna bring my bv120h), but if i go around checking out all the cabs i can, im afraid the guy is gonna sell it to someone else, coz the initial deal was $400 and i knocked it down to $350. i played the original 1960 before, and it sounded pretty good for my taste. i play mostly heavy metal and stuff, but i want a pretty versatile cab. (thats why i dont use an esp loaded with emg's, i use a gibson sg standard)

They are the same thing, like mentioned before the 1960A is the top angled cab and the 1960B is the bottom straight faced cab. A vintage cab would be labled 1960AV/BV.

but some of them have the whole thing marked on the cab, and some just say 1960?

like we've already told you. they're the same cab with different speakers, which equals a slightly different sound.

if you can get the cab for 350 and it's in pretty good condition, get it. it's probably worth slightly more than that if it's in good condition.

Ya, any 1960 cab is worth a good $400 IMO if its in good contition.

do you know what speakers?

I used to know. I've been trying to find that information since I answered the first time. You might just give a music store that carries marshall cabs what speakers are in the 2(or is it 3?) your trying to decide between.
