Does anyone here have any of Marquette audio labs products? Like the v72 remakes or anything? I am interested in knowing how good they sound. They look like the real thing.

My experience with the copy cat stuff has been that it is generally pretty good. I have compared the Brent Averill 1272 pre's to the Neve felt that it was a faithful copy.

This isn't rocket science per se. The reputable companies use parts that are as good as the original, and generally don't change anything in the design except to maybe make the power supply better, or lower the noise floor a bit. I suppose transformer coupled stuff will have a shade of difference with different transformers, but generally, we are not talking HUGE differences, just subtle things.

If the price was right, I would purchase a Averill pre over the original.

I talked to the guys at Marquette at AES. One of the few pieces I was interested in seeing after the show.

Dude, Marquette's are not repro's or copy cats or whatever you want to call them.

They are the real deal... they are just modded to be used in more modern recording setups, but they aren't knockoffs.

Marquette build the housing adds some sweet a** circuitry and sells them as cherry packages.

So of course they sound hot... they are the real deal there... excellent quality, excellent mods and super cool.
