Mapex Pro M, Anybody ever played on them?

Thats the link to the set I was looking at. I used to have a Yamaha birch custom absolute, which is a pretty high end kit and sounded great but I sold it to get recording gear. Now I'm looking at getting a decent kit to get back into playing live. Anyway, any insight on this Mapex kit would be much appreciated.

I own this kit and I love it. I have said this before but having a great sounding kit is more in the heads and the tuning than what brand. I have had more than a few people sit down at my kit and totally freak out at the sound. Severaly of them were quite disheartened that they multi thousand dollar kit did not sound that good. Anyway, my only gripe on this kit is the single tom mount. I prefer the double style like Pearl uses but I cope. I would recommend it.
 
All's I know is it was $1019.00 for ever and now it's $899.00. I will probably buy one. (the rock version)
 
Which one is the 899 one? Just the normal M version the non pro... They have different shells.

I have heard good things about the grestch kit too but I've read some reviews on the Pro M and it seems like a better deal overall.

the 899 is for the 5 pcs.
 
I had a six piece pro m kit for a while and it was a good sounding kit, but it seemed a bit trickier to tune that other kits ive played. Now I have a Taye Studio Maple kit and for the money i think its the best kit out there.
 
I own a Pro M Limited, which is an all maple a 6 piece kit. Mapex sold these about 6 yeas ago for a brief time. I think they sound for $1200 retial with no stands (other than the tom mounts). I got it for about $650 since I worked at a drum shop.

While the hardware is a little less than heavy duty, the shells are well made and true. This is a very nice sounding kit and I've recieved many comments on the sound (in particular from other drummers).
 
I play a pro m bass drum which I absolutely love, its very well made and the blue ice finish is nothing short of spectacular.
