I'm investing in a top quality front end for my DAW and the name that comes up a lot is the Manley VoxBox. I'm told it has a very thick, rich, fat creamy sound which is also very hi-fi and clear (if that isn't a contradiction). I will be using it t record vocals, bass, guitars, keyboard .. pretty much anything that moves!

Any thoughts from people that have actually used it?

Whats your recording room look like? I would start there first. 'Good' equpiment is overrated.

This isn't a contradiction when you are talking about great gear. When you are talking about cheap crap, it is.

the room has alot to do with it, but man have i heard bullshittttttt songs (weak kicks, snares, bass, etc)come out sounding good. mind you that you have to have a knowledgable person working the room , but you can say the same for plugins up to a point, but nothing in the world is better then a professional studio with the top of the line gear!!

ok i just wet myself!!! :o gotta run

Exactly. In a great room with a great engineer, great gear will make a GREAT difference. In a crappy room with a no-talent engineer, it will just show how crappy your room and abilities are......
